The Kawataro Selvedge Denim Jacket takes the mischievous spirit of Japan’s river yokai and builds it into a heavyweight layer. Kawataro, also known as Kappa, is infamous for his love of cucumbers, sumo wrestling, and playful trickery - and this fabric carries that same unpredictable energy. Woven in Japan at 14.5oz, the greencast selvedge denim uses irregular slub yarns and low-tension weaving to create a vivid, uneven texture. Each rope-dyed indigo yarn absorbs dye differently due to its shape, so with wear the jacket evolves into a spectrum of striking indigo shades, producing bold, three-dimensional fades. Finished with contrast stitching, antique copper hardware, a Raging Kong leather patch, and a pink selvedge ID, this piece balances folklore-inspired character with rugged construction. 14.5oz 100% Cotton Japanese selvedge denim Greencast indigo tone Low-tension weave with irregular slub yarns Rope-dyed indigo warp with uneven penetration Contrast stitching Antique copper buttons Raging Kong leather patch Pink selvedge ID Made in Canada Size Chest Shoulder Length Sleeve S 20.5" 18.0 24.0 23.25 M 21.0 18.25 24.0 24.0 L 22.5 19.0 24.5 24.75 XL 24.0 20.0 25.0 25.0 XXL 25.75 20.75 25.5 25.5 A variance of +/- 0.5" (1.27cm) is within tolerance. Fit Notes: Tommy wears a medium in this Denim Jacket. These are a fit that lands between the Heritage Jacket (trimmer) and the Chore Coat (roomier). It is kind of a true-to-size piece that we're almost always able to wear our true sizes in. We would recommend you do the same. Tommy is 5'10", 160lbs with a 40" chest. *The Denim Jacket is a classic denim jacket cut to fit comfortably in the chest and arms with two chest flap pockets, two front slash pockets, and two larg e interior pockets.*
