The Kawataro Selvedge Denim Jacket takes the mischievous spirit of Japan’s river yokai and builds it into a heavyweight layer. Kawataro, also known as Kappa, is infamous for his love of cucumbers, sumo wrestling, and playful trickery - and this fabric carries that same unpredictable energy. Woven in Japan at 14.5oz, the greencast selvedge denim uses irregular slub yarns and low-tension weaving to create a vivid, uneven texture. Each rope-dyed indigo yarn absorbs dye differently due to its shape, so with wear the jacket evolves into a spectrum of striking indigo shades, producing bold, three-dimensional fades.
